Featherdale Wildlife Park – Part 1

This was our first wildlife park visit “down under”. Featherdale is one of Australia’s largest private collections of Australian native animals and bird life. I gave my camera a good workout during our two-hour visit.

Laughing Kookaburra – the world’s largest kingfisher

Sulfur-Crested Cockatoos

Golden Pheasant

Australian Shelduck

This Southern Cassowary gave us a stern lookover and paced back and forth in his enclosure.

Australian Pelicans and Little Egrets

Pied Imperial Pigeon

We encountered more koalas; most were sleeping, but one was having a breakfast of eucalyptus leaves, giving us another photo op.

We also had the opportunity to feed the wallabies.

Barn Owls

Black-tailed Gulls

Australian White Ibis

Little Blue Penguins

Turquoise Parrot

Diamond Firetail

Tasmanian Devil – the best photo I could take as he was in perpetual motion
